Leggett Seeks Applicants for Advisory Board for the Montgomery Cares Program
County Executive Isiah Leggett is seeking applicants to fill one vacancy on the Advisory Board for the Montgomery Cares Program for the following position: a representative who has knowledge of and experience with issues relating to health care for uninsured individuals.
Members of the Advisory Board for the Montgomery Cares Program are composed of fifteen voting members and two ex officio members. Members include, but are not limited to, the County Health Officer, the Chief of the County’s Division of Behavioral Health and Crisis Services, and representatives of the Commission on Health, the County Medical Society, and the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Primary Care Coalition.
The Board’s mission is to guide the development of the Program to ensure steady and measurable growth in the number of uninsured County residents accessing high quality and efficient health care services including primary, specialty, dental and behavioral health care services. The Montgomery Cares Program provides quality primary health care, referrals to discounted outpatient specialty care, and limited prescription medications. The goals of the Program are to provide health care access and to improve health outcomes for low-income, uninsured and ethnically diverse County residents.

Leggett Seeks Applicants for Pedestrian and Traffic Safety Advisory Committee
County Executive Isiah Leggett is seeking applicants to fill three public member vacancies on the Pedestrian and Traffic Safety Advisory Committee.
The 17-member Advisory Committee includes six government representatives, one public school representative, one Maryland Municipal League representative, and nine general public members who represent various regions of Montgomery County, including one representative of the bicycle advocacy community. The Committee, initially established in 2002 with original duration of five years, was granted an extension through July 2012.
This Committee provides advice to the County Executive, County Council, and elected officials on implementation of the County’s Pedestrian Safety Initiative, priorities and needs in the area of pedestrian and bicycle safety and access, gathers information on pedestrian and bicycle safety, and identifies any new issues that may emerge.
Members serve three-year terms without compensation, but are eligible for reimbursement for travel and dependent care for meetings attended. Meetings generally are held every other month on weekday evenings. All members are also expected to serve on various sub-committees, and these meetings will be held as needed.

Leggett Seeks Applicants for Victim Services Advisory Board
County Executive Isiah Leggett is seeking applicants to fill one vacancy on the Victim Services Advisory Board for a representative from the mental health, legal, medical, dental or nursing professions. All members must be residents of Montgomery County.
The 23-member Board advises the County Executive, County Council, and the Department of Health and Human Services, Behavioral Health and Crisis Services Division, which assists victims of sexual assault, domestic violence and other crimes. The primary responsibility of the Board is to review available services for crime victims and their families, determine needs and gaps in services for victims and their families, and recommend policy changes in County justice system and human service programs. The Board submits at least one report annually to the County Executive and the County Council on the progress of programs for crime victims and necessary improvements and on other relevant systems and policy issues concerning victims. The Board also makes recommendations for appropriate funding allocations based on priorities and available resources, participates in developing an annual victim and family service plan, and acts as a local advocate for crime victim services programming.
Members serve three-year terms without compensation, but are eligible for reimbursement for travel and dependent care for meetings attended. The Board meets the fourth Thursday evening of each month in Rockville. Also, an average of five hours per month of board-related committee work is expected.

Leggett Seeks Applicants for Commission on Landlord-Tenant Affairs
County Executive Isiah Leggett is seeking applicants to fill six vacancies on the Commission on Landlord Tenant Affairs. The vacancies are for two public-at-large representatives (one primary and one alternate), two landlord representatives (one primary and one alternate) and two primary tenant representatives. The County Executive encourages minority participation on the County’s boards, committees, and commissions to ensure that a variety of issues, concerns and viewpoints are considered. All members must be Montgomery County residents.
The fifteen-member Commission hears landlord-tenant disputes. A landlord member must be an owner of rental housing located in the County; a manager, or an employee of a manager, of rental housing located in the County; an attorney who primarily represents owners or managers of rental housing; or be nominated by an organization that represents owners or managers of rental housing located in the County. A tenant member must be a tenant of rental housing in the County; an attorney who primarily represents tenants of rental housing; or be nominated by an organization that represents tenants of rental housing located in the County. A tenant member must not derive a substantial portion of his or her income from rental housing. An attorney member must, at time of appointment, have appeared in 10 or more landlord-tenant cases and represented owners, managers, or tenants in more than 60% of the attorney’s landlord-tenant cases. A public-at-large member must not be qualified as a landlord or tenant member or derive a substantial portion of his or her income from rental housing.

Meetings of the full Commission are held the first Tuesday evening of each month in Rockville. In addition, members are expected to serve on panels that hear cases involving landlord-tenant disputes. Leggett Seeks Applicants for Dickerson Area Facilities Implementation Group
County Executive Isiah Leggett is seeking applicants to fill five vacancies on the Dickerson Area Facilities Implementation Group for representatives of the affected upcounty community.
The purpose of this Group is to address community and environmental issues and concerns pertaining to the County's solid waste facilities located in the Dickerson area. These facilities include the Resource Recovery Facility, the Yard Trim Composting Facility, properties originally purchased for the Site 2 landfill, and property associated with the Linden Farm (formerly called the Matthews Farm).
The 18-member Group has 12 voting members, including representatives of Sugarloaf Citizens Association, For a Rural Montgomery (FARM), representatives from the towns of Poolesville and Barnesville, the Solid Waste Advisory Committee, the Upcounty Citizens Advisory Board, and six representatives of the affected community. Six non-voting members include representatives of the Operator of the Resource Recovery Facility, the Operator of the Montgomery County Compost Facility, the Operator of the Dickerson Mirant facility, the Department of Environmental Protection and the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission.

The board consists of five members, and not more than three can be from the same political party. Applicants must be registered to vote in Montgomery County. Applicants must not have any interest in any business or property involved in the manufacture or sale of alcoholic beverages.
The board is responsible for issuing alcoholic beverage licenses, and enforcing the alcoholic beverage laws of the State of Maryland and Montgomery County.
